Primary Purpose:

To provide strategies for teaching and supporting students in core subject-area skills needed

to ensure students are achieving at a proficient level.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Master’s degree

Valid Texas teaching certificate

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of TEKS

Knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Ability to work in small groups with students

Ability to work with teachers

Knowledge of appropriate use of assessment and intervention strategies for students

Strong organizational, communication, human relations and interpersonal skills

 

Experience:

Three-five years teaching

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Strategies

  1. Assists individual and small groups of students in core academic areas.
  2. Collaborate and coach teachers to identify the academic needs of students, to set learning goals, and targets.
  3. Knowledge of best practices and effective instructional strategies to enhance student growth.
  4. Participates in department planning and activities.
  5. Supports the district professional development plan.
  6. Facilitates campus and department professional development sessions.
  7. Assists campuses in the disaggregation and interpretation of data.

Student Growth and Development

  1. Supports the utilization of appropriate social skills development throughout the curriculum.

Classroom Management and Organization

  1. Models appropriate classroom management techniques in all presentations.
  2. Remains knowledgeable of current best practices for classroom management.

Communication

  1. Adheres to professional ethical standards in relationships with students, teachers, parents, community members, peers, and support staff.

Professional Growth and Development

  1. Attends appropriate conferences and professional development for self-improvement.
  2. Utilizes information and insights gained in professional development activities.
  1. Reads, maintains, and utilizes current education and research literature.

Miscellaneous:

  1. Exhibits punctuality and dependability in carrying out assignments.
  2. Exhibits flexibility in the performance of assigned duties.
  3. Dresses and grooms appropriately.
  4. Performs other tasks and functions as assigned by the Chief Academic Officer.
