Primary Purpose:
Maintain door hardware in good working condition and all keys up-to-date throughout the district.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED
Valid Texas driver's license
Locksmith Certification hardware
Willingness to work overtime occasionally
Maintain appropriate driving record for insurance purposes
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Extensive experience in both locks and door hardware
low voltage access controls and alarms
Demonstrate aptitude for successfully performing tasks assigned
Demonstrate ability to work and to get along with people
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintenance and Repair
- Maintain all locks in good repair and keys functional.
- Maintain accurate accounting of keys.
- Maintain door closures working properly.
- Mainatin door hinges in good repair.
- Maintain computerized key management system.
- Maitain master key system integrity.
- Install new locks and hardware as needed.
- Climb and work from ladder.
- Maintain truck and tools in good working conditions.
- Maintain accurate record of daily activities.
- Clean up work area after job is completed.
- Communicate with school personnel in reference to work to be accomplished and when completed.
- Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor and performs other tasks, assuming responsibilities assigned.
- Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business and demonstrates team work in daily activities.
- Be prompt, timely, and thorough in completing daily tasks.
- Meets attendance standards and complies with notificiation procedures for absences.
- Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.
- Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.
- Complies with district policies as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
- Perform and assist co-workers with tasks associated with general maintanence trades.
Safety
- Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Operate tools and equipment according to establised safety procedures.
- Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
Other Duties as Assigned
- Other duties could include working in other areas of the mainenance department to provide support during absences or shortage of staff in other trades or to perform duties.
- Requires flexibility and understanding that all maintenance staff may be required to perform duties outside their normal area of expertise to meet the mission and goals of the Plant Services Department.

Competent in use of all tools and locksmith trade; ability to operate key cutting machine

Demonstrate good physical dexterity and have the ability to perform manual tasks and body movement including strenuous walking, standing, carrying and/or climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, reaching stooping, bending; work outside and inside; exposure to hot and cold temperatures
