PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Plan, implement, maintain and evaluate a comprehensive program to ensure the academic success of students in the middle school and to provide a proactive academic plan for every student to encourage their success as a student and for future collegiate and career development.  Implement and maintain a focused organized system for student admission, withdrawal and the successful maintenance of student folders, transcripts, and records.

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s Degree Required

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to organize, implement, and maintain effective systematic processes

Ability to instruct students and parents of academic requirements

Proficient skills in typing, word processing and file maintenance

Ability to maintain accuracy in great detail

 

Experience:

Preferred experience working with students or working in a fast-paced public environment

           

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

Communication

  1. Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors.
  2. Foster an open and solid working relationship with campus leadership.
  3. Effectively communicate with colleagues, students, and parents.

 

Major Duties

  1. Conduct and ensure confidentiality of all assigned ARD proceeding for the campus.
  2. Represent the local education agency at all assigned ARD meetings.
  3. Consult with school staff regarding implementation of IEP goals, objectives, modifications and accommodations.
  4. Meet with parents to discuss pertinent student information.
  5. Consult with teachers and relevant staff concerning the educational needs of students.
  6. Consult with psychologists, psychiatrists, medical doctors, and community agencies concerning the intellectual, emotional, and behavioral functioning of students. 
  7. Responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating an effective academic advisement program for students.
  8. Outlines, in writing, an academic plan, consistent with the district’s guidance program plan, for each student to ensure academic success.  Conducts an annual review of the plan and revises it if necessary.
  9. Effectively coordinates and communicates with parents, school personnel, and the community to bring together resources to ensure the success of all students.
  10. Responsible for using an effective referral process to assist students to use special programs and services.
  11. Responsible for creating student academic rewards, assisting with maintaining accurate PEIMS records, at-risk coding, responsible for scheduling students and making schedule changes when applicable.
  12. Attend and provide academic and course advisement for all students, including those with learning disabilities at ARD meetings.
  13. Responsible for conducting teacher and/or parent conference including Student Intervention Team (SIT) meetings as necessary.
  14. Communicates effectively, serving as a student advocate, with students, parents, staff and administration concerning the academic needs of all students.
  15. Assist testing coordinator with student assessment.
  16. Assist campus admin in the scheduling and implementation of student orientation meetings.
  17. Participate in all parent/student workshops.
  18. In collaboration with HS counselors, provide career counseling and direction to students in collaboration with the administrative staff.
  19. Maintain a communication system that effectively collects and disseminates information about requirements and activities to students, parents, and others as needed.
  20. Work with other secondary alternative programs/schools to maintain academic histories and deficiency plans.
  21. Monitor student grades to ensure the successful completion of the academic plan.  If grades are failing, take appropriate student intervention actions with parents, other school personnel, or other resources to ensure student success.
  22. Assist in the preparation and maintenance of student transcripts, folders, and records. Track and keep record of all middle school requirements (e.g. Fine Arts, PE, CPR, HS credits courses).
  23. Responsible for working with students to create the student course selection sheets in preparation for the upcoming year.
  24. Responsible for updating the campus course guide annually.
  25. Maintain proper files of current and former students according to established policy.
  26. Assist the registrar with the successful enrollment of new students.
  27. Research and translate transfer student records to ensure that all documentation is correct and up to date.
  28. Respond to inquiries regarding current and past students to include other school districts, parents, etc. 
  29. Assist the registrar with the student withdrawal process.
  30. Compile, maintain, and file all required physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents. 
  31. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, and board policy.
  32. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
  33. Maintain an accurate knowledge base and comply with state, district, and school policies and regulations concerning primary job functions including state and local attendance and PEIMS policies when applicable. 
  34. Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisors, co-workers, students, and community.
  35. Model behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible. 
  36. Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment.

Computer, printer, calculator, fax machine, copier, multi-line telephone system, and other modern office equipment.
