Primary Purpose:
Perform professional psychological work in assessment, behavior management, and counseling for students with emotional disabilities, learning disabilities, and behavioral problems. Assess the psychological and psycho-educational needs of students referred to special education services.
Qualifications: Education/Certification:
Master’s Degree in School Psychology or Psychology specific field and/or currently enrolled in a Master’s Degree program in School Psychology or Psychology field pursuing a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology licensure
Must be eligible for Internship or Trainee status in accordance with their affiliated university and/or TSBEP guidelines Trainee Status preferred
Valid TX Driver’s License

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Addresses student achievement deficiencies by forcing resources and efforts to promote satisfactory classroom performance
- Facilitates home-school cooperation to enhance academic achievement
- Diagnosis and addresses student needs
- Functions as a liaison between the school and the family in student assessment and interpretation of test results
- Assists in ensuring that the special education curriculum is responsive to student needs
- Counsels individually and in a group format with special education qualified students
- Addresses the educational needs of at-risk students
- Coordinates liaison and transition processes for Child Find (three to five year olds)
- Directs resources and efforts to address the most pressing student needs
- Participates as a team/group member in such programs such as suicide prevention, crisis management, social learning, meditation and outdoor education
- Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned

Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Regular district-wide travel to multiple work locations as assigned; moderate lifting and carrying. May be required to lift and transfer students to and from a wheelchair or assist with positioning students with physical disabilities.
