Primary Purpose:
Administer and operate the district’s central and campus administrative computer and server networks. Develop, maintain, and monitor all district servers, software, infrastructure. Responsible for installation, testing, and oversight of all server hardware, personal computers, software, and related equipment. Perform on-site technical work to install and maintain computer equipment and network and software applications throughout the district. Respond to work order requests by diagnosing and repairing network and computer hardware.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in server/network administration
Special Knowledge/Skills:
General knowledge of LAN and WAN network design and installation
General knowledge of network hardware and software applications with in-depth knowledge of network servers, printers, and other equipment
Ability to work with multiple operating systems and network protocols (i.e., Windows Server 2000-current, UNIX, MS-DOS, and MAC-OS)
Ability to analyze and resolve computer and server network problems
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Two to Four years experience performing server maintenance
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Server Management
- Identify and resolve server hardware and software problems.
- Install and test server hardware, software, and upgrades.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on hardware.
- Implement and maintain all system configurations and backups.
- Coordinate and monitor system utilization; recommend improvements as needed.
Server Security
- Develop and implement a districtwide security system for all systems; ensure server security by maintaining network, Internet, and E-mail accounts.
- Design and implement backup procedures to ensure that backup of all servers and workstations are performed on a regular basis.
- Oversee tape backups and restore district data as needed.
- Assist with development and implementation of a disaster recovery plan.
Technical Support
- Serve as liaison to software and hardware vendors to maintain appropriate product support.
- Maintain network design and configuration documentation.
- Provide assistance to end users to identify and correct equipment and software related problems.

- Assist in maintaining Work Order System
Other
- Identify and recommend the acquisition of software and hardware to meet the automation and server needs of district staff.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Technology Services.

Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Lifting and moving of heavy equipment; stooping, bending, and kneeling. Work on-call and after hours.
